Rockstar to launch Grand Theft Auto on... UMD

Gaming firm Rockstar has announced that GTA: ChinaTown Wars is to be launched onto the PlayStation Portable.

Set for release this Autumn, the latest version of the previously Nintendo DS-only game has undergone several changes in order to bring it up to PSP quality, Rockstar claimed, including upscaled graphics and enhanced lighting.

PSP gamers will also get new story missions, but specific details about the game have been withheld for now.

The title will be available to buy either through download or on UMD - which seems, perhaps, odd given the UMD-less PSP Go is set to go on sale in October. Is Rockstar's publisher, Take Two, using the launch to test existing PSP owners' appetite for downloads rather than physical media?

Whatever, a UK price for GTA: Chinatown Wars hasn’t been revealed. ®
