BBC devs Doctor Who movie script

David Tennant to meet Catherine Zeta Jones?

The BBC has said “a script is in development” for a possible Doctor Who movie spin-off - with David Tennant the favoured thesp to take the lead.

The news came as the Beeb confirmed Tennant would appear as the Time Lord in the forthcoming third series of CBBC's The Sarah Jane Adventures, due to hit the small screen later this year.

Producer Russell T Davis said: "Viewers thought they may have to wait until November for the next full episode of Doctor Who, but this is an extra special treat. And it's not just a cameo from David - this is a full on appearance for the Doctor as he and Sarah Jane face their biggest threat ever.”

Elizabeth Sladen, who plays Sarah Jane Smith, described herself as "over the moon" at the reunion.

Regarding the Who film, Davies said last year said he fancied Catherine Zeta Jones as the Doc's companion - an attractive idea if the budget can handle it. ®
