Virtual spray cans developed

Graffiti, tagging, Banksy – whatever you care to call it, it’s a messy business. So a prototype Wii peripheral’s been developed that does away with the need for spray cans.

WiiSpray is essentially a spray can-shaped Wii Remote holder that enables the user to spray virtual graffiti. The method for doing so is designed to be almost identical to how you would tag your name on a street corner in real life.

WiiSpray, clean and virtual graffiti

Developed by a student team from a German university, WiiSpray allows the ‘artist’ to choose between several customised backdrops, and to selected spray colours and styles directly from the can.

The video shows have-a-go artists using WiiSpray on a backlit display, but it’s not clear how – if the Wii peripheral ever made it into the shops – the gadget would be used by the average Joe at home.

Nonetheless, WiiSpray looks fun... ®
