Logitech launches earphones for gym freaks

Spandex model not available

Many resolutions will focus on weight loss and fitness this year. So, Logitech has launched two pairs of earphones designed with exercise in mind.

The MetroFi 170 and 220 in-ear cans create a “magic seal” between your lughole and the world around you, according to Logitech, to ensure that irritating external noises won’t spoil your enjoyment of the latest Hip Hop…ahem…smash, as your feel the burn at the gym.

And because you’ll be doing nothing but exercising for the next 12 months week, both models come with several pairs of silicone ear cushions to ensure they stay snugly inside your ears.

The duo provide 16dBs of noise isolation, but the 220 model has the added benefit of a titanium-coated speaker that Logitech claims will deliver a fuller audio mixture featuring greater detail in the higher-frequency range for “deeper bass and clear treble”.

Logitech’s even gone one better than a simple 'R' and 'L' sign on each earphone and has painted the right earphone in red to ensure you always know which earphone’s which.

iPhone and BlackBerry owners can also buy either model in a vi-edition which features a miniature microphone that lets you answer calls at the click of an in-cable button. Both models are compatible with a 3.5mm jack.

Logitech’s MetroFi 170 and MetroFi 220 earphones will be available in the US next month for $50 (£34/€36) and $80 (£55/€58), respectively. The MetroFi 170vi and MetroFi 220vi cans will each cost an extra $10. European launch dates or prices haven’t been announced yet. ®
