Is Microsoft gettting its ship together?
Radio Reg Bundling’s come a long way since Microsoft was dragged through the US courts in the 1990s for wrapping Internet Explorer into Windows.
With the up coming Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 Release 2 and Silverlight 3, it looks like Microsoft’s taking a soft sell to get you to consume the trio without landing in hot water.
Register software editor Gavin Clarke and All About Microsoft’s Mary-Foley find out what Microsoft’s up to in the latest episode of MicroBite.
In our latest show we ask:
- Whether Windows 7 will finally give you what you want - decrappified Windows?
- Why initially positive Windows 7 reviews have now turned negative
- What’s really behind Microsoft’s recent Silverlight 3 "sneakpeek"
- Whether crazy numbers from the rival Microsoft and Adobe Systems camps on uptake of Silverlight and Flash can be trusted
- Two-years in, whether that controversial Microsoft and Novell deal was worth all the fuss
- How Microsoft chief executive SteveO is handling the exit of Yahoo! CEO Jerry Yang
Gavin and Mary-Jo are joined by seasoned Microsoft Watcher Steven Bink of Bink.nu and Macehiter Ward Dutton principal analyst Bola Rotibi.
Steven talks about what's cool in Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, while Bola says the future is not AIR versus Silverlight - it's bigger than that. A word of caution for podcast purists: Steven was recorded via PC during the Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC), so you’ll get a brief spell of mono imbalance.
