Damien Hirst buys Paris porn collage
Brit artist circle jerk
Skull bedazzler and shark preserving artist Damien Hirst spent some of his recently acquired riches from a record-breaking art sale to purchase a collage of US socialite Paris Hilton composed of images from porn magazines.
The Hilton portrait, for which Hirst paid an undisclosed sum, is the latest in a series by fellow London artist Jonathan Yeo.
Yeo's medium of grumble mag clippings began after the White House canceled his commission to paint President George W. Bush – and he decided to continue on his own.
Hirst's art set a new record for takings from a single artist sale last month at Sotheby's with estimated bids purchases of £40m. His recent works include an embalmed calf with hooves and horns made of 18-carat gold, rows of stamped out cigarette butts, a shark preserved in formaldehyde, and decapitated horse's head with a unicorn horn attached.
Yeo plans to print up posters of his latest collage, with proceeds from the sales being offered to Hilton herself. ®
