Xbox 360 gamers flex their political wings

Pick your president online

Casting a vote for the next US president is usually quite a formal affair. But a mock poll has seen almost 100,000 US gamers pick their future president using the Xbox 360.

The Rock the Vote scheme allowed US Xbox 360 owners to perform a variety of political tasks using Xbox Live. This included registering for the right to vote, chatting to other Xbox Live users about whether Barack’s the man for the job and, of course, voting itself.

Unsurprisingly, Obama won by a margin of 12 per cent - with 43 per cent of votes. Rival McCain got 31 per cent of gamer votes. Around 13 per cent voted for other candidates, whilst the same percentage said they were still undecided.

Microsoft has said that during the first two weeks of Rock the Vote’s launch, over 55,000 voter registration forms alone were downloaded.
