Maxell launches leather DVD
Not for vegetarian storage fans
All sorts of things are already bound in leather, including sofas and chairs, books and, even, the Blackberry Bold. But Maxell has taken things one-step further by unveiling a range of leather DVDs.
Maxell's DVD's have a leather-like top coating
It's claimed the discs are the world's first DVDs to feature a leather top coating, which allows punters the opportunity to record data onto one of five colours of leather disc, including “Ivory White,” “Rich Black” and “Crimson Red”.
Those with a liking for 100 per cent real leather could be disappointed though, because the discs are described as “leather-like,” which suggests that the covering is synthetic.
Nonetheless, Maxell’s created both DVD-R and DVD-RW leather bound disc collections. Both will come in packs of 10 disks.
The leather discs will be available from 25 October, but a UK specific release date or price hasn’t been given yet.
