Vodafone exec stabbed to death in country home

Police are questioning a man following the murder of a senior Vodafone UK executive on Saturday.

Sally Sinclair, 40, head of business analysis at the mobile phone firm, was stabbed to death at the home she shared with her 47-year-old husband and ten-year-old twin boys near Andover in Hampshire. A 47-year-old man is assisting police with their inquiries, The Telegraph reports.

Police discovered Sinclair's body in a pool of blood on Saturday night at around 10pm. A post-mortem has identified the cause of death as multiple stab wounds to the upper torso.

Neighbours said the family only moved into the five-bedroom rented property a few months ago, since when they kept to themselves and rarely socialised. Sinclair's husband Alisdair reportedly sold second-hand cars from the house as well as staying at home to look after the young boys, the BBC reports.

Among the cars parked in the driveway was a Subaru Impreza, Mitsubishi Evo and a silver van, adds the Evening Standard website, which carries pictures of Sinclair and the house.

Sinclair had worked at Vodafone since 1994. Colleagues paid tribute to her work. "Sally will be deeply missed by her colleagues here at Vodafone," said Matthew Brearley, human resources director at Vodafone UK. "Our sympathy goes out to Sally's family and friends."

A spokesman for Hampshire police said that as well as questioning a 47-year-old man, detectives are following up other other lines of inquiry in an attempt to establish the events leading up to Sinclair's murder. ®
