Gaming execs may think the future of consoles lies in unique controller designs, but one firm is trying to get PC gamers to control games with everything from plastic bottles to Windows user guide booklets.

Cam-Trax Technologies claims to have developed a “unique patented software solution” that can track any object in real-time with reliability and precision. Although very little has been said about how the software actually works, the firm has stated that all the tracking is done through a web cam.

Cam-Trax claims its software can turn any object into a PC game controller

In a promotional video, gamers are shown holding all sorts of various objects in front of a web cam, including what looks like a lump of wood. Cam-Trax’s software appears to quickly map the size and shape of each object, before allowing them to be used to control on-screen games.

Unfortunately, the software isn’t available to purchase yet.
