Next season's must have?

Unconfirmed reports claim that LG is developing a second-generation Prada handset that adds in a slide-out Qwerty keyboard to the current phone’s touchscreen.

LG's 'Prada II': the pic's a fake, we'd say, but it gives the jist

Numerous online sources have stated that a formal announcement from LG is due in Q4. But as we wait for official word from the Korean manufacturer, speculative specs suggest that the new model will be quad-band GSM/GPRS/Edge capable, work on two UMTS 3G bands, and support 7.2Mb/s HSDPA downloads.

The phone’s screen will still measure around 3in, but a Qwerty keyboard will slide out from underneath to aid data input. Register Hardware’s sceptical about a picture of the supposed mark II phone which has already sprung-up on the web. The keypad’s edges appear much rounder than the phone’s top face. Oh, and the keyboard's curves are particularly poorly rendered.

Reports also claim the Prada II has been given a five-megapixel camera and a user-facing snapper for video calls. Pictures are stored on Micro SD cards, but Bluetooth 2.0 is also on-board for moving data around. The phone’s even rumoured to support Wi-Fi.
