WD pitches 'rainbow' selection of coloured hard drives
Hue know you want one
Western Digital has re-released its My Passport Essential 320GB external hard drive line in a range of ten new colours.
Following the emerging trend of personalisation, WD's choice of colours span the spectrum in the hope of ensuring no potential Passport purchasers need feel left out.
WD's My Passport Essential: now in colour
When Apple launched its selection of coloured iMacs back in 1999 it suggested - not entirely touch in cheek, we suspect - that Mac fans could collect the entire set of five machines.
WD didn't make the same proposal, but we can see some punters choosing a set of drives colour-coded by content. Back-up Blue, Media Mauve, Photos Pink, Tax Return Red, Pr0n Purple, anyone?
Available now in the UK and the US, the 320GB, USB-connected and bus-powered My Passport retails for around £120/$180, no matter what colour you choose. 160GB and 250GB versions are also available, priced at £67/$120 and £97/$150, respectively.
