End Balance Board slippage misery

As UK gamers await the arrival of Wii Fit, one intrepid retailer has already seen the game's potential for accessory sales.

The Wii Fit Mat: stay on board

Japanese retailer Hori has begun promoting an exercise mat to accompany Nintendo’s game, which has already sold one million copies since its release in the country last year. The mat’s designed to give you a slightly studier footing when performing moves that involve stepping off the game’s Balance Board.

Although, we suppose it might help to soak up sweat generated by ‘working out’ with the game.

The Mat measures 183 x 61cm and is about 4mm deep, while also rolling up into a handy tube once your workout's over.

The mat is set to be released in Japan later this year for about ¥3400 (£16/€21). There are no details about a European release, but Hori has a US-based subsidiary, so hopefully it’ll appear over there and in the UK sometime soon.

We wonder if Her Majesty will be buying one...
