Sozzled Oz footie fan tattoed with 'gay' team tribute

Beware Thais bearing pricks

An Aussie rules footie fan has cause to regret a drunken visit to a Phuket tattoo parlour after the Thai needlesmith misread his written instructions and labelled his beloved Geelong Cats the "Gay Premiers".

According to the Geelong Advertiser, the unfortunate bloke - known only as Neville - wanted to celebrate his team's triumph in the 2007 premiership league with a quick logo and the celebratory "Day Premiers 2007".

Having quaffed 15 cans of beer to "ease his nerves", Neville duly presented himself for adornment, and offered a piece of paper with the headlines "right arm" and "left arm" under which he detailed his wishes.

He explained: "I gave them a piece of paper and wrote down on the right arm, I wanted the new Geelong emblem they've got out now... and Day Premiers 2007. And on the left arm side I wrote 'left arm' and the two grandkids' names and Night Premiers 2006."

The tattooist duly took him at his word, and inscribed the words "RIGHT ARM" on his right arm, with "GAY PREMIERS 2007" under that, followed by the aforementioned logo.

Poor old Neville admitted to 3AW radio: "I couldn't believe it." The station has a pic of the offending tattoo and an interview here. ®
