LG looks set to dazzle consumers later this year with yet another glossy mobile phone. The U990 will feature a five-megapixel camera and is 3G-enabled, with HSDPA high-speed download technology.
LG's U990: heading for the 3 network
The U990's camera has a manually controlled digital zoom that is adjusted via a dial around the lens itself. It has also been reported that the dial will double-up as a form of jog-dial, allowing users to scroll through the camera's other functions, while viewing and selecting those options from the handset's main screen. The camera will also capture video content at 120 frames per second.
The screen is a touch-sensitive 3in display, with a 240 x 400 resolution, and is capable of displaying 262,144 colours. Initial images of the handset appear to show the screen finished with a mirrored surface which, when combined with the handset's overall aesthetics, gives it a look like LG's existing Prada - reviewed here and Shine models.
The U990 is equipped with 170MB of memory - there's a Micro SD card slot to provide users with some additional storage capacity. Bluetooth and USB 2.0 connectivity will also be built in.
The handset is expected to appear on the 3 network in October, but a price hasn't yet been confirmed.
