Oz foetus becomes Facebook star

An Australian foetus has become an internet "star" after doting parents-to-be Claire Gillis and Luke Waring decided to set up a Facebook page to keep friends up to speed on the pre-sprog's progress, Reuters reports.

Gillis explained to Oz's Daily Telegraph: "We have friends and family all over the world, so we're using it for them, to post updates on ultrasounds, scans, and what it has been doing all week, so that's how it started."

Pretty quickly, a "grainy black-and-white ultrasound image" of "Bubba Waring" had attracted 29 chums, and a queue of eagers punters wanting to pile into the embryofest. Gillis added: "I'm considering whether I should just open it up to the public because I'm just receiving the most ridiculous number of emails and friend requests."

The sex of Bubba Waring is unknown, but most apparently favour a chap based on the limited evidence. Gillis concluded: "We're not going to find out its gender, so it'll be a surprise to everybody when the baby is born."
