Jerry Garcia's jacuzzi washes onto eBay

Deadheads click here for rock bathroom memorabilia

Deadheads will undoubtedly be flocking in their thousands to an eBay auction which will next month offer diehard fans the chance to snap up exciting Jerry Garcia memorabilia including his stereo speakers, jacuzzi and yes, the Grateful Dead guitar botherer's kitchen sink.

According to Reuters, Henry Koltys, 55, of Marin County, California, bought Garcia's pad a decade ago, and wisely stored stuff removed during renovations on the off chance someone might one day set up an online tat bazzar ideal for disposing of such must-have plumbing accessories.

Koltys was quick to stress he'd bought the house because he liked it, and not because he might be able to squeeze a quick buck from Garcia fans. He declared himself a Grateful Dead fan, but not a fanatic, which explains why he feels he can part with Garcia's bathroom fittings.

He said: "I'm hoping that someone will come along and say, 'His Jacuzzi, wouldn't that be great'. People are just kind of fanatics when it comes to that."

Garcia's porcelain and other effects are "appraised" at $75,000 (£36,600), Koltys reckons. The auction will run from 12 to 19 August and, we're delighted to report, all proceeds will benefit the charitable non-profit Sophia Foundation, which "supports family law and kids and families dealing with separation or divorce". ®
