BT forgets to bill for internet access
Thousands get bumper bill six months later
BT has admitted that a glitch in its systems meant thousands of punters weren't billed for dial-up internet access and indirect international calls for three months last year.
But don't worry. The telco is simply adding the outstanding amount to this April's bill.
Calls made to 0844, 0845, and 0870 numbers between August and November 2006 were mistakenly left off bills, leaving BT out of pocket.
The SNAFU is likely to see some customers facing bills of up to several hundred pounds.
BT said anyone having trouble paying the bill, or feeling they've been left out of pocket, should let the company know. However, in the majority of cases, the calls were made and must be paid for - even if BT forgot to charge for them at the time. ®
