Sling seeks SlingPlayer Palm testers

Slingbox maker Sling Media has begun inviting members of the public to sign up to test pre-release versions of the Palm OS incarnation of its SlingPlayer Mobile remote TV viewing application. The scheme is aimed at owners of the Palm Treo 700p.

That said, Sling said it might bring on board a few Treo 650, Treo 680 and Tungsten T|X users too, presumably to test access over GPRS and Wi-Fi links in addition to the 3G connectivity provided by the 700p. Indeed, for testers, an "unlimited data plan is a MUST", Sling said. So is a Slingbox.

An initial testing programme is due to begin on Monday, 5 February, with a second wave to follow on 12 February, Sling said. Device owners who'd like to give the software a spin will have to update their code regularly, respond to surveys and keep mum about the whole thing until Sling ships the finished software.
