Welsh company makes crap greetings cards

Sheep Poo Paper

A Welsh company has won a £20,000 Millennium Award for turning sheep droppings into "greetings cards and gifts", the BBC reports.

The secret of Snowdonia-based Creative Paper Wales's "Sheep Poo Paper" is that your ovines only digest half of what they eat. Accordingly, the company scours the nearby mountains for the raw material, sterilises it in pressure cookers and then extracts the undigested fibres.

The water used in the washing is subsequently punted to farmers as concentrated fertiliser.

Founders Lez Paylor and Lawrence Toms hope to eventually produce between one and two tonnes of crap paper per year. They said they'd been "keen to develop an idea which would be uniquely Welsh", and unless someone opens a yak-dropping cardboard factory in Ulan Bataar in the near future, we reckon the idea is likely to remain uniquely Welsh for some time. ®
