BT cuts off Euro1net customers

'Pay up and service will resume', says telco

Updated Customers of ISP Euro1net have been cut off. When punters attempt to connect to the internet, they are redirected to a BT page informing them their broadband retailer hasn't paid for its IPStream service.

BT's wholesale department confirmed it had suspended Euro1net's IPStream due to "repeated non-payment". The telco said it was liaising with Ofcom on the matter, and added that the service could be resumed if Euro1net pays its bills. Ofcom has information about the issues here.

We were unable to contact Ramsgate-based Euro1net or its parent company Advanced Data Services (Europe) Ltd. A service update on its website said: "Due to an issue concerning one of our suppliers, namely BT, Euro1Net have had it's [sic] IP Stream service cut, which effectively means that all customers whose domain ends euro1net.com will be without service."

Euro1net, which operates a pay-up-front annual billing scheme, said: "We have a number of options available including, if necessary, transferring you over to our Talk & Surf service, or supplying each user a Migration Authorisation code (MAC) and a refund of any unused months.

It adds, "We are not going out of business; we just have an issue with one particular supplier." ®

Update

The service notice on Euro1net's site has now changed. The ISP says it is unable to provide MACs for customers to switch provider. It says: "We are unable to comment further at this time due to possible legal action against BT."
