Lottery site delays deadline

Flakey website forces extension

New lottery game Play Monday has extended the deadline for its first draw because of problems keeping its website up and running this afternoon.

Problems got so bad the company has extended the deadline for buying tickets from 8pm this evening to midnight.

A spokesman for Play Monday told The Reg: "There have been problems, we are in the process of increasing demand, but there's been an awful lot of interest."

The situation is made worse because Play Monday tickets are only available via the website. The problem was noticed by several Reg readers.

One pointed us to dnsreport.com which revealed several problems that can't be helping the newest lottery player.

A quick search shows problems with parent servers, name servers, State of Authority status, and with mail servers. More from dnsreports here.

By 3.45pm the site seemed to be working again, so maybe it was just the lunchtime rush that caused problems.

The lottery launches tonight and claims to offer more chances of winning, as well as more cash for charities. ®
