JVC pushes play on female-friendly MP3 players

Blokey colours on offer too

JVC will this month ship its latest Flash-based digital music players, offer consumers in the US a choice of five female- and fella-friendly colours, and sporting neck lanyards with integrated earphone cables.

The JVC XA-F57 and XA-F107 offer 512MB and 1GB of unformatted storage capacity, respectively. Both play MP3 and WMA files, the latter with or without Microsoft's DRM copy-protection code. Songs can be copied across from a host PC by drag'n'drop - the players operate as USB Mass Storage devices - and created on the player via its line-in port.

The two models sport a four-line backlit LCD, and offer five EQ pre-sets plus a single custom equaliser setting to help adjust the audio to better suit the user's personal preference. So too will the colour choices: white, silver or pink for the XA-F107, and black, grey or pink for the 512MB model.

The XA-F57 and XA-F107 will retail for around $99 and $149, respectively, when they go on sale later this month, JVC said. ®
