UK VoIP service is 'child's play'

'A' is for 'apple' and 'anaphylactic shock'

A Bristol company claims its VoIP service is so simple to use - "it's child's play".

Switch Call is so confident that its service is the "simplest VoIP service available in the UK" it is offering punters the chance to take its "VoIP Challenge", which promises to refund the upfront joining fee if the service is cancelled within a month.

"The simple set-up of the service will prove attractive to consumers who want to make the most of cheaper telephone calls available through VoIP services, but who may be daunted by some of the more complicated work-arounds available through rival suppliers," Switch Call bragged in a statement.

The service is aimed at broadband users with monthly subscription starting from £5 a month which includes 500 minutes of landline calls. The service is also subject to a joining fee of £25 for home users and £50 for business users.

In return, Switch Call offers a VoIP handset, a geographic number and the promise of cheap calls.

"Technologies tend not to become truly mass-market until they become simple as well as beneficial," said Switch Call boss Nick Kaulbach.

"Many people fully understand that VoIP services are beneficial to them based on their low-cost. But until now, I think that there has not been a service simple enough to break through into the mass-market," he said. ®
