Albatron readies 'SLi-enabled' Intel-based mobo

Nvidia opening up?

Albatron will next month ship an Intel-oriented mobo that incorporates Nvidia's multi-GPU technology, SLi.

Albatron PX945P Intel SLi moboThe motherboard, the PX945P is based on Intel's 945P chipset for LGA775 Pentium processors, including the dual-core Pentium D, operating across a 1066MHz frontside bus. The board supports 667MHz DDR 2 SDRAM in dual-channel configuration for a maximum bandwidth of 10.7GBps, the company said.

The board is mounted with a x16 PCI Express slot and a x4 slot for the second graphics card. It also provides a pair of old-style PCI slots. So far as we can tell from our crude translation of Albatron's Chinese announcement, there's no mention of SLi as such, but that's how it works, a DigiTimes report suggests.

Storage units can be connected through the chipset's four Serial ATA II 3Gbps ports. Albatron has added a proprietary mPower2 slot.

Albatron did not say how much it will charge for the PX945P - presumably pricing information will come close to the launch. ®
