Your Comms boss rubbishes Carphone takeover rumours

Deep breath...and...relax

Hats off to Hugh Logan. "Hugh who?", you say. You know, Hugh Logan, the boss of B2B telco Your Communications.

Last week United Utilities (UU) - which owns Your Communications - was forced to respond to a press report that the telco was about to be bought by the Carphone Warehouse for £200m.

Keen to dampen down any rumours and to reassure staff that all's well, he tapped out a hastily written memo to his staff using his Blackberry.

"Well it's Friday and another rumour appears," mused Hugh. "This time it's an article in the Manchester Evening News saying we are about to be sold to Carphone Warehouse for £200m. This seemingly has spread like wildfire throughout the business. So, where are we?

"We all know UU's position, it hasn't changed in the 5 years I've been here and is still the same. In fact on my very first day as MD I was told by one member of staff that categorically the company had been sold to Kingston. The person left the next day!!

"So, we are not about to be sold. At sometime in the future we will leave UU, when? I don't know but if and when this happens you can rest assured that you will hear it from me and not have to read about it in a newspaper or by a colleague who knows something you don't.

"So, lets stop wasting valuable time listening to idol speculation. We need all the available time we have to win, process, deliver, bill and service our orders."

Hugh signed off his notelet - "Have a good weekend."

Bless. ®
