Swede snared in UK snowmobile parking blitz

£90 fine for offence in Warwick, in June

A London outfit responsible for collecting parking fines for offences around the UK has pulled off the most audicious try-on of recent times - demanding a £90 penalty from a Swedish sewage engineer for illegally resting his snowmobile in the centre of Warwick in June.

Euro Parking Collections (EPC) sent the notice to Krister Nylander at his home in the village of Bollstabruk, some 200 miles north of Stockholm, the Guardian reports. The company correctly identified the registration number and manufacturer of the snowmobile, but Nylander insists that he has not been to Britain in years and that he has most certainly not attempted the trecherous arctic conditions of summertime Warwick astride his mighty skiddoo.

Nyland told the Guardian: "England doesn't have that much snow, does it? Particularly not in June. My snowmobile is parked in my barn. It has never left Sweden. I use it for recreation locally. If I wanted to go on holiday with my snowmobile, I think I would go somewhere else where there is snow, like Finland."

Nylander says he will not pay the fine, which suggests that he will probably shortly receive a visit from EPC's ski-mounted enforcers bearing court orders. ®
