Roll up for the UKUUG Linux Technical Conference

Reg readers get £10 off Leeds bash

Reader offer Between 5 and 8 August 2004 the fair city of Leeds will host the annual UKUUG Linux Technical Conference, described as “a great way to broaden your knowledge and keep up-to-date with what’s happening in the world of Linux”.

We’re sure that it will be, and doubtless a “great way to take large quantities of real ale with fellow penguins” to boot.

BTW, UKUUG is not — as you might imagine — the proto-Indo-European term for “mammoth”, but rather the unappealing acronym for the UK Unix Users’ Group — old mates of El Reg who we’re delighted to support this year as one of the conference’s media sponsors.

Accordingly, Reg readers qualify for a discounted ticket rate, as follows:

  • £10 off individual three-day tickets which can be yours for just £80
  • £10 off commercial three-days tickets — reduced to £110 + VAT for Reg delegates

Full pricing details, including those for students and academics, are available right here, or you can ring 01763 273 475. Remember to use the secret password “Reg” when booking to claim your discount.

But enough talk of filthy lucre, what about the attractions? Well, you can have a shufti at the whole programme here. Highlights include:

Good stuff, and there’s plenty more where that came from. We’re particularly taken with the sound of “Bringing Open Source to the West Midlands” — sort of “How the Midnorthwest Was Won” — and will be keeping a close eye on Aaron Crane’s Unicode oration. That’s because Aaron is a Reg staffer whose IM handle is “technical_dark_lord”. Time to walk it like you talk it, oh master of all the propellorheads.

In summary: lots of Linux goodies spread over three days in sunny Leeds. Full details are available by following the links in this handy table:
