Raritan takes on CCC Network's KVM baggage

Raritan Computer has scooped up the assets of one-time KVM switch high-flyer CCC Network Systems.

Raritan has purchased the intellectual property and remaining inventory of CCC's FreeVision product line for an undisclosed sum. CCC's high-end KVM (keyboard/video/mouse) and remote access products sit in some of the world's largest data centers, but the company met its end last month courtesy of a Chapter 7 bankruptcy filing.

"Raritan is well positioned to assist CCC's customers, many of whom are also existing Raritan customers," said Dr. Ching-I Hsu, CEO of Raritan Computer, in a statement.

Raritan picks up a pretty impressive customer list with this buy. Microsoft, DeutscheBank, Cable and Wireless and UUNet are all using CCC product. Despite these large customers and constant infusion of venture capital, CCC was unable to keep its business alive.

Raritan appears confident it can make the most of CCC's assets. The company boasts 18 consecutive years of "profitable growth" and product placement in more than 35,000 data centers.

We called Raritan to find out more on how the CCC gear would be sold from here on out, but all the workers expect for one had left for the day. The lone Raritan worker answering the phone admitted to being a devout Register reader but was upset at our lack of KVM product coverage. We apologized.

He did not, however, know whether the FreeVision product line will live on or just be replaced by Raritan kit. ®
