Yahoo! hunts! for! champion! amateur! yodeller!

Strewth!

Yahoo! has clearly kissed and made up with Wylie Gustafson after the cowboy singer's attempt last year to sue the Internet giant for $5 million.

The man behind Yahoo!'s distinctive yodel used in its ads sued the Internet business because he alleged that Yahoo! didn't have the right to continue using his yodel.

Days after the case became public, Yahoo! and Gustafson settled their differences. Although details of the settlement were not made public, Gustafson is quoted on his Web site saying: "My horses will have plenty of hay this winter."

Now, though, Gustafson is helping Yahoo! search for "America's Favourite Amateur Yodeller".

The first yodeller-finding event is to be held in New York City tomorrow (Friday, August 1) before the talent-spotting show moves on to seven other US cities.

The overall winner will appear in an upcoming Yahoo! TV commercial as well as walking away with $10,000.

Said Gustafson "Yodelling not only has become synonymous with Yahoo!, it also has deep roots in cultures around the globe. I'm looking forward to seeing this series of events draw people together from all over the country to celebrate the fun and unique nature of yodelling." ®
