Al Gore joins Apple

Steve, meet my friend, Hilary

Former Vice President Al Gore has joined the board of Apple, his first such position in the private sector.

Gore is already "an avid Mac user and does his own video editing in Final Cut Pro," according to whoever wrote this press release. (The quote is attributed to Steve Jobs). He's already an advisor to Google.

The intermittent association between Apple and the Democrats goes back a decade: to when former CEO John Sculley bagged himself a seat next to the First Lady at the Clinton inauguration. Clinton himself was later a house guest at the famous "Presidential Bedroom" of Steve Jobs when Chelsea was a student at nearby Stanford.

Gore famously did not invent Internet - but then he never claimed to. That was a lie propagated by a lazy and dishonest campaign press corps, as Bob Sommersby explains in great detail, here.

However the Gores have close ties with the Great American Poisoner, herself Hilary Rosen, who is leaving the Recording Industry Association of America in some style. Rosen confessed to Poisoning in a speech on Monday.

Gore's press secretary last year was formerly the RIAA's Director of Communications. Jano Cabrera, who left to join the Gore campaign as Communications's Director for his fundraising committee, Leadership '02. He joined the Lieberman campaign as press secretary in January.

Perhaps Jobs can persuade Gore to lend his support to Rip, Mix and Burn?®
