Nintendo readies GameCube budget range for Europe

€30 budget range

gamesindustry.biz logo A range of discounted titles called Player's Choice is to be launched by Nintendo in Europe at the beginning of April, mirroring Sony's PS2 Platinum range by offering popular GameCube titles at a new RRP of around €30 (£19.99).

The first games in the range will include Luigi's Mansion, Super Smash Bros. Melee and Pikmin, all of which sold strongly and were critically acclaimed when they were launched around the same time as the hardware launch. More games are expected to follow shortly, although it's not yet known if third party titles such as Activision's excellent Rogue Leader will be a part of the range.

The Player's Choice range will also be available in the USA, where the titles will have an SRP of $29.95. Nintendo of America has additionally announced that it is reducing the price of the Super Mario Sunshine bundle in the USA from $189.95 to $159.95, effective as of this Sunday. It's not known whether this signals a forthcoming drop in price for the Cube hardware itself.
