Third of UK biz does not have IT staff

Almost a third of UK businesses don't employ someone specifically to look after the IT needs of their company.

Not surprisingly, small companies are less likely to have an IT bod than larger outfits. Okay, no great shakes we know but that's what UK ISP Star Internet found out.

Instead, in those companies which don't have an IT specialist, MDs (14 per cent) and office managers (office managers) take on the role of IT manager.

Of the 164 companies surveyed as part of the research, half said that person was skilled at what they did.

Err, that's it really. Not groundbreaking stuff we know but there you go. Sometimes these things happen like that. ®
