Mistral buys Routo

Wind of change

Brighton-based business ISP Mistral Internet has bought hosting and telecoms outfit Routo (formerly Boyannet) for an undisclosed sum.

Mistral says the deal will add more punters for managed firewalls, hosted servers, leased lines and dial up connections. Mistral has so far recorded sales this year in excess of £6m and reports that it has been a profitable business since it started out in 1994. Current customers include Bacardi, Blockbuster, Sony Music, Microsoft and Pizza Hut.

In April 2002, Mistral received "significant investment" from Hampshire-based IT outfit, Digital Future Virtual IT Limited, making Digital Future the new owner of Mistral. Part of the investment was spent in May when Mistral acquired South Coast ISP, Interalpha UK.

Mistral is understood to be talking to other companies concerning possible acquisitions. ®
