Punters tell of NatWest e-banking woe

Working fine says bank

Customers of NatWest's online bank are still reporting problems accessing their accounts following an upgrade at the weekend.

Said one reader: "They did some upgrades on Sunday, after which one of my accounts disappeared from view and the comments for my payments also went AWOL.

"Tried to login earlier [today] and it said I couldn't now I can't get anywhere.

"Oh I tried to call the call centre yesterday and after ten minutes of muzak I hung up - overwhelming demand they said."

Another reader was equally hacked off at the treatment they're getting claiming that the service has been out for 72 hours with no idea when it might be fixed.

"I've been unable to access my company's NatWest account online for over 48
hours.

"You can log in, but are then presented with a 'service unavailable' page. This
gives an 0845 telephone number which is, of course, permanently engaged, they said.

A spokeswoman for NatWest said that the service was up and running and performing well after the weekend upgrade, with more than 83,000 customers accessing their accounts over the last day or so.

But she added that she was very sorry of those customers who were unable to access their accounts and asked anyone experiencing problems to contact her at carolyn.mcadam@rbs.co.uk.

Last week some 500,000 customers of the Halifax's Internet bank, IF, were locked out of their accounts following a problem with the service. ®
