Union wants Net access at work for members

Calls on Govt to take lead

The Public & Commercial Services union (PCS) - one of the UK's largest trade unions - wants its 288,000 members to have access to the Internet at work.

The PCS - whose members work in the civil service and companies supplying government services - claims that the Government should do this and set an example to other employers in the UK.

According to research by the PCS, half its members have access to email at work, while only a third have Web access.

This, claims the PCS, is not satisfactory - especially since the Government is such a vocal supported of all things "e".

No one from the Government was available for comment at the time of writing. ®
