Google today launches Adwords - you know, the text boxes on the righthand side of search pages - for UK advertisers.
It's a cost-per-click deal and it's self-service and, says Google, it only costs £5 to start. So it's a low-cost way of getting SME businesses advertising online, and there's targeting too, so of course Google claims an enormous ROI for this approach.
Bigger companies can get client-holding from Google.
Google is the fourth biggest website in the UK, with 7.7 million users, Nielsen Netratings estimates - but judging from the referrals we get from this search engine, most Brits still use the .com rather than the .co.uk. site.
