Claranet mops up Netscalibur's German ops

Independent UK ISP Claranet has acquired the German subsidiary of Net services outfit Netscalibur in a move to boost its presence in Europe.

The acquisition gives Claranet additional operations in Berlin and Munich as it continues to provide Net access, hosting and IP security solutions to its European customers.

Claranet launched its first centre in Frankfurt in 2000. With the acquisition of Netscalibur's German business it becomes Claranet's second largest operation outside of the UK.

Claranet also has offices in France and Spain

For its part Netscalibur - which provides managed Internet services to European business - intends to focus its resources on further investment in the UK and Italy.

In a statement Charles Nasser, CEO, Claranet Group said: "Claranet has been looking for opportunities to expand its European business and the opportunity to acquire the German subsidiary of Netscalibur met our focused strategic business requirements in Germany and forms the basis of further expansion plans in Europe.

Financial details concerning the acquisition were not released. ®
