Net sucks eyeballs dry

Me peepers!

Sales of drugs designed to sooth sore eyes are rising as more and more people access the Internet and spend time watching TV.

Drug companies expect to see a seasonal rise in the sale of eye-care products because of eye irritation caused by allergies.

However, the spike in sales is higher than normal suggesting that there are other causes to blame.

The experts reckon that the increase in red, dry or irritated eyes may be due to a rise in the use of antidepressants and more time being spent in front of flickering computer and television screens - both of which can cause dry eyes.

And who supplied all this info? You guessed it - a company that flogs eye-drops. ®
