Check Point adds console management

Ease of use

ComputerWire: IT Industry Intelligence

Check Point Software Technologies Inc has produced an enterprise-class security infrastructure management console that finally brings to security administrators a level of product integration and ease of use to match technology so well established in network and systems management arenas.

By incorporating "security dashboards" to simplify administration and ease security policy management, the new SmartCenter line will allow administrators to use a single, central point of configuration to control various Check Point security, virtual private networking and quality of service products without having to rely on multiple management products and their components. SmartCenter Pro adds centralized and automated software updates, with opportunities for integration with enterprise LDAP directories and Active Directory regimes.

SmartCenter and SmartCenter Pro are designed to integrate with a broad range of OPSEC-certified management and policy enforcement products, the Redwood City, California-based security software supplier claims.

Yesterday's announcement followed the introduction last month of SmartDefense, a free real-time management console built on top of the company's flagship internet security platforms. Used in conjunction with its Firewall-1 product, the software provided the first integrated management application for Check Point products.
