Welsh clubbers get DSL

Feel the BeaT

Net users in Cwmbran are clubbing together to get broadband.

They’ve been told by BT that if enough people are interested in high speed Net access then the telco will upgrade their local exchange for DSL.

So far around 1,000 exchanges in the UK have been upgraded for DSL. BT maintains that it won’t upgrade any more unless it’s commercially viable.

Obviously unprepared to generate that demand itself, BT asked others to do it for them.

The site - Cwmbran ADSL - has just been launched and so far two people have said they want broadband. Only another 273 to go. ®
