‘Upgrade’ renders IF web bank iffie

The Web site of Intelligent Finance (IF) – the multi-channel ebank from the Halifax – has been closed for most of the day following an upgrade that went wrong.

According to vulture-eyed readers the site has been down since around 7.00 this morning.

Which means that 250,000 of IF's customers have been unable to access their accounts online.

Anyone attempting to log into their account is refused entry and faced with the following message: "You are currently unable to access your Intelligent Finance plan as we are upgrading our system to improve our service.

"Please try later. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Customers have told El Reg that they're hacked off at IF because they weren't told about the downtime in advance.

According to an IF spokesperson, the system should be up and running again later this evening although she was unable to say exactly when. ®
