The Glitch who stole Vodafone

UK network felled, restored

A computer 'glitch' felled much of Vodafone's UK mobile phone network yesterday. The 'glitch' has now been repaired and normal service is restored.

Problems kicked off early evening yesterday, spreading out from Vodafone's Oldham facility (whence the glitch originated)in the the North-West and the rest of the UK.

Millions of subscribers were unable to receive or make calls during the outage, and SMS services were severely curtailed.

Vodafone is the UK's biggest mobile phone network. Worldwide it has 100m subscribers, a milestone announced yesterday.
