Liverpool better than Man U: official

And its Web site is better too

For those poor misguided souls who don't think Liverpool football club is superior to Manchester United, the latest figures from Nielsen/Net Ratings should put you straight.

Liverpool's Web site tops the poll of visitors - 152,000 over a three-month period, compared to just 135,000 for Man U. Plus, Liverpool fans stayed on the site twice as long as Man U. And this is despite the fact that Man U has significantly more fans living outside the UK, so a Web site is an ideal way of keeping track of the team.

Complete bias aside, the figures are hardly surprising since Liverpool has put a huge amount of effort into its www.liverpoolfc.tv site and it is quite frankly outstanding. Manutd.com is also a good site, but not of the same class.

Liverpool is going to need that quality though if it is to make a goer of its subscription service - which costs £3.99 a month. If that takes off, it could be a nice little earner for the club, along with online sales of club merchandise.

[Humourous situation] Having just rambled on about how great the site is, a quick visit has revealed that the site is "down for an upgrade" and you need authorisation to get into it. Dear oh dear. Shocking timing. ®
