NTL ups cost of broadband wireless access

The service isn't even live yet

NTL has hiked the price of its yet-to-be-introduced wireless broadband service by almost a half.

Well, sort of. Hours after El Reg reported that NTL was to trial wireless broadband in London it upped the price of the service from £24.99 to £34.99.

Asked to explain this massive increase a spokesman for the company said: "It was a typo."

Oh, well that explains it.

Anyhow, there are no guarantees that once the trial is complete NTL will roll-out the service.

The spokesman explained this was a "proof-of-concept trial" to ensure that the technology was sound.

If the trial proved successful, then services could begin to be introduced later this year.

Said the spokesman: "Our commitment to broadband is one hundred percent. We are committed to broadband Britain."

NTL is also exploring the potential of delivering fibre to the home with 1,000 flats taking part in a trial in London. ®
