AMD's Dresden fab clocks up 10m Athlon dies

AMD's Fab 30 in Dresden, Germany, has shipped its 10 millionth Athlon chip die.
The milestone comes after 13 months of production.
The fab is working at 60 per cent production capacity according to AMD which reckons it can hit 100 per cent by then end of the year.
Hector Ruiz, president and CEO, said that the best was yet to come for the Fab. "AMD is on track in converting Fab 30 to take advantage of next-generation 130-nanometer and silicon-on-insulator (SOI) process technologies."
AMD currently employs 1700 people in Dresden. ®
