Spot market prices threaten to fall below $3
There were more DRAM woes this week as memory chips looked likely to fall below the $3 mark on the spot market.
The price of units in 128Mb PC 133 modules dropped to between $3 and $3.20 per chip on Wednesday, Korea's Maeil Business Newspaper reports, via Asiabiztech.com.
Prices of 64Mb PC-100 chips fell by 6.7 per cent to between $1.60 and $1.70.
This morning, Dane-Elec in the UK was quoting 128Mb PC100 modules at £23 ($32.63), representing a drop of between £1 and £2 this week.
Meanwhile, ICIS-LOR's monthly survey showed contract prices for 128Mb DRAMs were pretty stable during the month to May 11.
Average prices in Europe and the US stayed unchanged at $4.33 and $4.43 respectively, Nikkei Market Access reports, again via Asiabiztech. Prices for large users in Asia fell 0.87 per cent to $4.08. ®
