A range of Timothy McVeigh T-shirts, the majority revelling in the man's planned execution by lethal injection planned for 11 June, has popped up on eBay for between $10 and $15. McVeigh, 33, pleaded guilty to the Oklahoma bombing in which 168 people died, including 19 children.
One T-shirt available on the online auction site reads: "Hoosier Hospitality [picture of a syringe] Timothy McVeigh, Terre Haute, June 11, 2001. Justice at Last." Another reads: "The worst is yet to come McVeigh - Hell. May 16, 2001".
The sixteenth of May was the original date when McVeigh was supposed to be executed but this was put back after the FBI suddenly found it had forgotten to give huge chunks of evidence to McVeigh's defence team.
Another T-shirt reads: "The needle won't bring them back" and another which we have been unable to find apparently says: "You are the weakest link - goodbye" above two needles.
You needn't worry about the T-shirts not fitting you - there are a wide range of sizes, including some kids-size T-shirts so little Junior doesn't miss out on all the fun.
We did find one T-shirt coming from the other side. "Stop the madness. Give McVeigh a stay," it reads.
Some people may find such crass, blinkered and emotive T-shirts offensive, but not the Americans, who appear to be lapping them up. June 11 will be a day of celebration.
But then McVeigh did kill an awful lot of people in cold blood. And he still thinks he did the right thing.
McVeigh's become a focus of a lot of hatred and fear and his face is instantly recognisable - all of which makes for a great money-making opportunity. ®
