Fujitsu Siemens unveils entry-level Solaris/SPARC server

Fujitsu Siemens Computers has used CeBIT to launch an entry-level, single processor addition to its Primepower range of Solaris and SPARC chip-based servers.
The PRIMEPOWER 100N, unveiled at the technology extravaganza in Hanover today, is aimed at users who need a mainframe kind of server. The product uses the company's Scalable Internet Server technology and adds to Fujitsu Siemens' existing Primepower Unix server range, which was launched in October 1999.
The PC maker also launched its PRIMEOFFICE product, a stackable case for multi-server cluster and storage systems. It has a 12U height capacity, and comes with horizontal mounting using 19-inch rack technology.
No prices or shipping details were available.
The company also remained upbeat about profits. It said it expected to report a pre-tax profit of 30 million euros for the second half of its fiscal year, ending March 31, 2000. Sales are forecast to hit six billion euros. The figures, which represent the company's first set of full-year financials, are for Europe, the Middle East & Africa, and exclude sales in Asia Pacific and America. ®
