Dell punts out lightest Latitude

Notebook range refresh, story rehash

Dell today unleashed its latest notebook, which it claims is aimed at business "road warriors".

At around 3.4 lbs, Dell says the L400 is its lightest Latitude. The machine uses an Intel Low Voltage mobile 700Mhz PIII chip, with 128MB SDRAM, 6GB hard drive, Windows 2000 and 12.1-inch XGA screen. It also comes with a Dell TrueMobile 1150 wireless PC card.

The inch-thick notebook is covered in a magnesium alloy cover that is meant to withstand travel.

Available from today, road warriors will have to fork out $2,159 for these machines.

Earlier this month Dell warned it expected sales to drop eight per cent in the current quarter to $8 billion. ®
